Sketchy noise jams are the cornerstone of the Ashley Soft experience, but since adding avant-garde guitarist Devin Friesen (Bitter Fictions) to the mix, their sound has taken on a much more lived-in aesthetic with looped soundscapes tempering the ferocious squalls kicked up by Clarke Alan Macleod and Andrew Hume. It can be difficult to keep up with the trio’s exuberant experiments, so latch on to what you can and enjoy the tumultuous ride.
