The Beginning of the Middle of the End
The Beginning of the Middle of the End is a multi-channel audio-video installation that draws attention to the affective experience of living amidst the exhausting movements, precarious flows, and suffocating postures of life at the beginning of the middle of the end-of-the-world (as we know it). The audio-video assemblage fuses a series of cinematic clips, meticulously scavenged from the clichéd world of popular film and television, with their misplaced sonic counterparts in order to reflect and amplify the oscillating postures of hope and despair that that now characterize our contemporary social milieu.
Presented in partnership with Stride Gallery. Project development for The Beginning of the Middle of the End was funded by the Edmonton Arts Council as part of the City of Edmonton’s Art of Living cultural plan.
