The Price, in 100 Notes is a performance-based work directed by Sahar Te. The piece explores and compares oil prices between Canada and Iran within a span of 97 months, from January 2009 to May 2017. West Canadian Select (Canada) and OPEC Basket (Iran) oil prices are converted into Midi numbers and then to Viola and Santur musical notes. The Price, in 100 Notes is performed by Jonathan D. Lews and Bijan Meysami with photo direction by Alex Moon.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Sahar Te is a media artist who graduated from the Alberta College of Art + Design in 2017. An Iranian artist working and living in Canada, and bilingual in English and Farsi, her work questions the notion of absolute truth, and the ethics and discourses of translation. Through a multidisciplinary practice, Te explores methodologies that propose alternative realities and challenge common approaches to “original” content.
