References to The Sims are inevitable when it comes to Hannah Haderlein’s aptly named electro-pop project, Symfan. Thankfully, she leaves the wacky, indistinguishable voices from the series behind and instead wails her heart out, contrasting beautifully against laid-back, synth-driven grooves. Like the series, her music bends time and makes it move faster, transporting the listener to a gripping world that’s more engaging than any video game could muster.
