Shirley & The Pyramids’ music reminds one of a Wayfarer-wearing NME darling crushing a daytime set at Glastonbury, with all the beautiful fuzz you need vibrating off of fret-grinding riffs. It’s really more of a shoe-blaze — the band rips along with swagger and stomp rather than the usual navel-gazing, with busy bass lines and the kind of disaffected shouting that brings to mind the best ‘80s post-punk.
